Sara’s background
Sara qualified as a Social Worker in 2000, and is an enthusiastic, dedicated and knowledgeable practitioner. Sara has extensive practice experience including front line social work practice, the management of several social care teams, independent assessment work, lecturing on undergraduate and postgraduate social work programmes, mentoring social work students and medico-legal case management with both adults and children.
Sara has always been committed to working with vulnerable children and adults, particularly those with disabilities. Sara’s practice is in line with the social model of disability and she is passionate about issues of equality and empowerment and enabling people to maximise their outcomes and reach their potential through support and rehabilitation.

Medico-Legal Case Management
Sara is an established and well respected Case Manager, working with Bush & Co to support people following catastrophic or life changing injuries as a result of personal injury or clinical negligence. She is regularly instructed by claimant and defendant solicitors to support clients with their rehabilitation.
Independent Assessments
Sara is experienced and highly skilled in completing independent assessments, having completed numerous assessments of prospective foster carers, adoptive parents and kinship carers.
She has undertaken quality assurance work for a Local Authority with regards to independent assessments.
Sara has carried out Independent Investigations for a number of Disciplinary Hearings and complaints processes.
Lecturing, mentoring and training
Sara has significant experience in delivering lectures and facilitating workshops for undergraduate and postgraduate Social Work students across two Universities.
She has delivered bespoke training packages to social care staff (including foster carers and Social Workers) within a number of different Local Authorities
Sara has extensive experience in tutoring undergraduate students on the Social Work degree course.
Specialist in working with Deaf people
Sara has extensive experience in working with Deaf people and their families.
She is able to communicate fluently in British Sign Language and has in depth knowledge of Deaf culture.
Sara is passionate about promoting enablement and empowerment through providing opportunities to maximise life chances and reduce dependency.
Leadership
Sara has many years experience working as a Team Manager within social care.
She has effectively and efficiently managed a Deaf Services Team, a Disabled Children’s Team, numerous Children’s Community Teams and a 15 Plus Children in Care Team. Sara has extensive experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams within her medico-legal Case Management role.
Sara has always managed and supported her colleagues to work to high standards, ensuring that the client’s needs are the focus and priority.
